Howdy Friends, I'm back in the saddle and heading north to my home away from home, the world famous Zoo Bar in Lincoln, NE. I'll be doing three shows with my Porkestra. They are also known as The Tijuana Gigolos (plus a few extra Players). I will continue my role as bandleader/conductor and singer. If I'm feeling up to it I may break out the upright bass for a few songs. I have started yet another regimen of meds in order to be able to perform music. I'm feeling a little better these days so I'm really looking forward to getting together with these guys and blowing the roof off the joint. I hope to see you there.
How-Dee Friends, Family and Fans, I have had a trough-load of inquiries as to my whereabouts musically speaking. First of all, thanks to all of you who have noticed I haven't been seen tramplin' around on stage in quite a while. About ten years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and up until about two years ago I was able to deal with it. Unfortunately since that time the disease has progressed and I am no longer able to travel and perform like I used to.
I am basically retired now. I've gone from playing in excess of 250 shows a year to just a handful. I've been trying different treatments in hopes of returning to playing. I'm still writing music and have started recording a new CD but the progress on that project has been slow. I hope to be up on stage with The Forbidden Pigs someday but only time will tell.
This past July I was invited by my pals The Tijuana Gigolos to join them in Lincoln, NE. to celebrate The Zoo Bar's 36th anniversary. They knew I hadn't been playing and volunteered to be my back-up band. Well, we added a few more musicians to the group until we had a nice round number of nine. This new super-group was dubbed Billy Bacon and His Porkestra. We had such a great response from everyone that we decided to try it one more time this Oct. If you'd care to see some video of The Porkestra click on the link below. I also have some photo's up for you to check out. I guess that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! All the best, yer pal, Billy Bacon Porkestra videos
