Bio
Faded Paper Figures began, like all great endeavors, as a side-project. Writing songs between dissertation chapters and frenetic bouts of southern California traffic, John Williams (vocals/guitars) and Kael Alden (guitars/keys/machines) were simply looking for an aesthetic and rigorous diversion. Two or three songs into the process, however, things started sounding incredible--much too good to have come from Kael's apartment bedroom. Eventually Kael's wife, Heather (additional vocals/keys), began adding some beautiful vocal harmonies, which solidified FPF's unique blend of indie-tronica rock. Since finishing their debut album, "Dynamo," the band has been featured on TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy, MTV's The Real World, and several others. The New York Post praised them as one of the Top 10 new bands of 2009. That same year, the band had to face a difficult challenge. Heather enrolled in medical school in Los Angeles, while John accepted his dream job as a professor at Yale on the opposite end of the county. Suddenly, FPF found themselves victims of geography. But this did not affect their determination to continue with the band. Using "the internets" and a little thing called "cyber space" they were able to produce their second album, "New Medium," bi-coastally. They are currently working on their third album via video chat and email, and when time allows, they get together for some live shows and a few short tours here and there. -
