............ John Train, Chris Jones, and Ben Frey have come together again. After a successful run in a prior band, DETRIMETAL, John, Chris, and Ben splintered off in different directions and moved on to different projects. As of April 2006, Hot Asphalt has become the central focus of their collective creativity, and pre-production of their debut album is well underway. Currently, there are 20 tracks in the kitty for us to pick through, 2 which are ready to go to production, along with three others that are on deck for near final arrangement. Asphalt is a sonic illustration of style that fans familiar with their previous band DETRIMETAL will be both surprised and pleased with. Asphalt is a clear departure and 'goodbye' to the more progressive metal style DETRIMETAL was built on. The music is at its core, acoustic rock and jam oriented in genre, and both influenced by the likes of Jethro Tull, Alice in Chains Unplugged, DMB, Pink Floyd, and original at the same time. By the end of July, Hot Asphalt will begin to release some of the early work reflecting the direction this new project will ultimately take. Once the band has completed studio work, they will be shopping the tracks individually and as an album release, either through DIY or independent A..R. Ideally, this album will have a story for everyone within each of the tracks. -

David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Godzilla, Raul Milon, Tesla, Michael Hedges, Neil Peart, Warren Haynes, The Allmans, Rusted Root, String Cheese Incident, Derek Trucks, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, DMB, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Jethro Tull, and now and again, a few moments of genius. Collectively, our taste in music runs through every genre. There's no such thing as bad music. To us, it's expression. Maybe they just have bad taste in expression, right? (_8(})<~~D'OH!!!! Moving on...Godzilla, A.R.T., successful hardworking musicians who don't blink an eye at up and coming bands when they can help, and ANYONE who takes the time to appreciate the music we are offering with Hot Asphalt. -
