In the summer of 2007, Miars was formed from a simple idea. To play music that is fun, meaningful, and full of groove. Originally consisting of a four piece - bass, two guitars, vocals and drums, the sound began as somewhat of an experiment. The band currently consists of, Imer Diaz on bass, Marcus Ohanesian on drums, and Kayla Daly on vocals and guitar. Over the past five years, Miars has experienced challenges in being able to classify themselves into a specific genre of music. Some say funk, some say rock, some say there's a bit of jazz feel. There is no doubt that conceptually Miars works to push musical boundaries and each member strives to excel on their instrument in new creative and expressive ways. For now, Miars settles with descriptions of funk rock. In the late summer of 2008, a 3 song demo was released with previous members. Over time Kayla began song-writing and playing guitar for the band to add another completely different component in the direction of sound. In July of 2011, Sounds of Tremors, a 4 song EP of their strongest live songs was released, showcasing their growth as musicians and as songwriters. The lyrical content of Sounds of Tremors, delves deeper into philosophical and existential explorations of consciousness. Miars is not your typical love song writing band, the deeper meanings through metaphors and poetry hope to bring the listener to new places of self-introspection. The massive differences between the two albums can be attributed to the change in members as well as the change in songwriters. In the future Miars hopes to maintain their pocket grooves while pushing their funk side to a new level. Miars is hoping to expand their skill sets to live acoustic performances, engaging cover tunes, outdoor festivals, New England area tours and always writing new music. Anyone with a love for original music and independent style can take part in enjoying what Miars has to offer. -

On June 14, 2010 we will be accepting submissions from artists interesting in performing in front of 25 to 50 representatives from the 4 Major Recording Labels and several of the top Independent Record Labels.
This will occur over two consecutive weekends. One weekend in New York and one weekend in Los Angeles over two days that will feature 15 of the top bands selected to perform each night at one location. In doing it this way every band that performs WILL BE SEEN by ever representative attending. Unlike SXSW and other such music conferences where if you’re not at the one or two locations where all the label representatives hang out, you’ll ever be seen, and it was a complete waste of your time and money.
NO COST or FEES, other than the artist’s own travel expenses. Compete details and submission procedures shall be posted on our MySpace page June 14, 2010. WE SHALL NOT ACCEPT ANY SUBMISSIONS UNTIL THAT DATE.

It's a known fact that certain colors give off certain emotions.
In the summer of 2007, Miars - a four piece band of Worcester, MA - decided they wanted to give off that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Blending colors such as maroon, turquoise, mustard, and midnight black, the group resulted with a sound that can be described as a blend of experimental funk rock greatness.
Remember the TV character Alf? How he was loved by everyone but he was a little different? That's Miars, lovable and different. Different in a musical sense, not awkward different.
Miars needed to spread this unique feeling to the masses. So, in the late summer of 2008, a 3 song demo was released to showcase their most epic tunes.
So what's on the Miars canvas for this year, you ask? They plan on brushing on a nice hefty coat of shows in the New England area with an accent of great new music. Once they are happy with spreading their color over New England's fences, they will enter the studio again to record a fresh batch of tunes for an upcoming full-length album.
