Bio
....Welcome to our site..... Please don't be afraid to turn up your headphones...Originating in a collaboration between Lime Green Yellow label-mates Giles Jacobs and Simon Baker, Placement released their first album back in 2000... 'Our Man In High Places' was a mixture of studio and field recordings, that were layered into slabs of musical place building. The idea being, to try and form virtual representations of real or imagined situations in the listener's mind's eye. The Himalayan subject matter projected, as with radio, to be seen and felt in the imagination. Originally available via the Lime Green Yellow website and a select bunch of independent record shops the early copies soon sold out, so the decision was made to keep going... ..........Our Man In High Places [LGY 10 CD].. ..CD album featuring, From The Watergarden, Steep Forest, Glacier Path, Wire Suspension Bridge, See-Saw Ridge, Tibet's Mirror, Prayer Flags, The Lakes 'Sun' And 'Moon', A Passing Parade and Mother India. £3 or the equivalent worldwide via this site, or as a download in certain countries from www.gogoyoko.com/#/artist/Placement priced 3 euros....... .. Fresh enthusiasms followed and with them 'Marine Africa', a long term project designed to overfly the great continents wondrous rivers, lakes, swamps and adjoining seas. Deliberately composed to evoke both a light aircraft's eye view and a landed and magnified detail, these multi-layered and differently charactered tracks coalesce to suggest larger landscapes in an exploration of African water systems. Made at it's own pace and in parallel with other musics, this album colours much of Placement's current sound... ..........Marine Africa [LGY 019/node003].. ..Digital album featuring, Rainy Season, Madagascar Coast, Surface Water, Rufiji River, Light Aircraft Over Waves, Mai-Ndombe, Kyoga, Muddy Water Hole, Deep Blue Feathers, Nyasa, Coral Plumes, Volta, Tanganyika, Between Dune Forests, Glass Beach, Under The Cape. To download visit iTunes using the link below or find it on Amazon, emusic, etc..........Marine Africa via Node Records.com.... .. ..Watch this space for free downloads... There are specially written Placement tracks available for free on various virtual releases. To access these please click below their icons in the column on your left, they're all easy to download, or you can just give them a listen if you prefer... .. ..A note on friends.. We only add bands and artists that we think have some relevance to this site and people who genuinely appear to be friendly, so it really helps if you add a few words and we can see you're not just collecting. We listen to everyone we accept and so alongside a few regulars we do try to give room to as many new favorites as we can. If you should be included but then disappear, its not because we suddenly don't like you, its just that we're giving somebody else a go! Hopefully this policy will encourage friends and others to discover new things via this site... .. ....Node Radio is Node Records weekly radio show, going out between 9 pm and 11 pm central standard time every tuesday. You can listen and/or chat to the program via the link below and it's not unknown for odd Placementeer to drop in....... ...... .. -

Placement

Placement are a duo from England who make a form of locational ambient music they call ''Landscape Music". Their work is largely themed geographically and the tracks can vary from very large scale impressionistic pieces to much more focused and intimate studies.

The pair play hardware synthesizers, sequencers and sound processors, plus tape machines, drum machines and digital recorders. They also use found-sounds, field recordings and other electric and non-electric instruments. The music is pre-planned, but largely automatic, with the instruments and preparations usually playing together in real time.

The group has issued five full scale albums...
