Springboro Tea Party To Host A Candidate Meet and Greet on Thursday at 6-8.30pm.
By Sonny Thomas
The Springboro Tea Party will host a “Meet and Greet” this Thursday October 28th at the Holiday Inn Express at 851 Commerce Center Dr in Franklin next to Wal-Mart. The event will take place from 6:00pm to 8:30pm in one of the meeting rooms at the hotel.
The main purpose of this is a chance for the local voter to meet and hopefully consider voting for the featured candidate and note just feel lost by the left/right paradigm all the time. There are more than just the Democrats and Republicans to choose from. Yet some of the Republicans that are featured are endorsed by the Reps but may not totally be in the party machine.
‘5 Candidates from 3 Parties’ is the sub-title of the feature. Featured that evening are: 1 Constitution Party candidate, for U.S. Senate Eric Deaton, 2 Republicans; Debe Terhar for State School Board of Education and Dave Yost for State Auditor to replace the departing Mary Taylor (A Springboro Tea Party favorite); and 2 Libertarians; Robert Waters for 67 dist for Ohio State Rep and Charlie Earl for Sec. of State.
Of these 5, Deaton, Terhar and Waters are officially endorsed by the Springboro Tea Party. Mike Katz and I both feel that these candidates deserve our vote of confidence via the endorsements. So there are more choices overall when one goes to the ballot box. The Republicans claim they support ‘competition, except when it comes to the ballot box. Yet the Democrats do not support the free market and it shows since they really don’t have 3rd parties that threaten their voter turnout.
Each candidate will have 20 min to stump speech and a 10 min Q & A. The Tea Party will also have free DVD’s for the public to take home as well as refreshments will be available for the event. You can go to my blog at www.MySpace.com/SonnyThomas/Blog for more up to date info and website links to these candidates to get an overview of their platforms and positions on various issues.
Unfortunately, other candidates that were invited were unable to attend due to scheduling.

WSU Developing “Bone Scan” To Replace Fingerprinting, Facial Recognition
By Sonny Thomas
One of the things I enjoyed growing up was many of the cool sci-fi flicks that came out in the 80’s and 90’s. Recently I caught a story regarding using bone scanning as a way to ID someone. Now this is something right out of Total Recall or True Lies with Arnold Swarzenegger! Those famous scenes where he walks through a scanner that illuminates his entire skeletal system to scan for any weapons or other items of question really was neat at the time. Well the sci-fi movie of the past is becoming reality.
Wright State University Research Inst. is one of a dozen groups chosen from a listing of 500 applicants to submit plans to the Central Intelligence Agency for a state of the art technology to identify potential terrorists and other suspects. They are working on what they believe is the U.S.’s first “bone scanning” ID system and should know by next year whether the CIA will opt to use their tool. The concept is based on the fact that each skeletal structure is unique and no two people, even twins, are alike in the exact measurements of one’s bones and the distance between their tissues.
It’s bad enough that they can use DNA on someone which in many ways is the ultimate intrusion into one’s privacy rights, or even the creation of a DNA database (yes, that is coming) but this is even more dangerous. Since one has to physically take a sample of your DNA, this will simply scan you and compare you to a listing on a database somewhere. The TSA, after the “panty-bomber” scare last Christmas, is trying to force the use of full body scanners in all airports in the U.S., which has shown to elevate cancer causing agents in the body and they also claim originally that these pictures would not be kept on file but had to admit later after you’d sign the scan that they do keep it on file! Several privacy rights groups, especially one in New York, have filed a law suit over them. At this point you can still opt out of them for now but bare in mind with each new “terror” attack, Big Brother will find some way to implement a new technique or device to combat “terror”. In a free society, one might ask how much of our lives are truly free.
We as a people need to stay informed on these issues and start asking questions. On another issue to bring up, the citizens of the great sovereign State of Arizona have said “NO” to speeding ticket cameras by not paying the fines. When they found out the frequency that they were acquiring these tickets and the amounts, they realized that the lower order needs trumped these fines. Not to mention did I tell you this money didn’t even stay in Arizona? It ended up in the someone’s coffers in L.A.! The people said enough and 95% of them refused to pay. Within a short amount of time, they were taken down and the people won the day! See, we can make a difference. One at a time and then united as a group.
