    .

Okay, so it wasn’t exactly John, Paul, Ringo and George storming The Ed Sullivan Show. But, for Kansas on a scorching hot day at the end of the summer, it felt a little bit like Beatlemania, as Never Shout Never and The Ready Set played a long overdue MySpace Secret Show at the Bottleneck in Lawrence this past Tuesday.

We say “long overdue” only because “Love Like Woe” by The Ready Set, as well as just about any other song by Never Shout Never, have completely owned the MySpace charts for past eight months. In that time, both bands have played incesstantly, with most of their shows taking place in dustbowl parking lots or various corporate owned ampitheatres, so it seemed like they were ripe for an intimate club show at the end of this summer.
    .

And, frankly, we weren’t alone in this assumption. The hundreds of kids who lined up in front of the Bottleneck in sweltering triple-digit heat were clamoring to see both bands play, for quite possibly the last time, a venue this small and, once they were inside the screamed. Loudly. And often. May the following stream of pictures do their hoarse voices justice. You can view the full album here.
