    .
The Internet is still buzzing from this week’s announcement that >Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel has come out as transgender and she plans to live her life as a woman named Laura Jane Grace and the one constant is the fact that the reaction from Gabel’s fans and peers has been overwhelmingly positive.

    .
Fall Out Boy guitarist Joseph Trohman wrote, “Big support to @tommygabel. Very honest and courageous. Most of us dare to be who we really are inside. Very admirable to say the least.” Additionally Senses Fail wrote on Facebook, “I can now take North Carolina off the list of places I would ever choose to live. Also congrats to Tom Gabel for having the courage to follow his bliss. Punk music is for the free minded and open hearted, not the fearful and weak.”
    .
Furthermore Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda wrote, “I don’t think I’ve ever done anything that demonstrated the bravery of Tom Gabel” while The Gaslight Anthem tweeted lyrics from one of Gabel’s solo songs in support in the form of “It’s a harsh realm… don’t abandon me.” – we got you buddy.”
    .
Yesterday Gabel took to the Web to write, “Thank you all so much for the support and love. It’s honestly humbling, inspiring and life changing for me.” The issue of Rolling Stone where Gabel comes out as transgender and explains the decision hits the newsstands tomorrow.
    .
So do you think the overwhelming support that Gabel has received will encourage other transgendered artists to go public with their decision? Let us know in the comments section below as you listen to Against Me! Radio.

It's so great that so many people are supporting her. I definitely think this will encourage other transgender artists to go public. I don't know if she'll read this, but Tom Gabel is an inspiration to not only other transgender artists, but to many fans who might be transgender as well
