• Rihanna Says That There’s No Promise She’ll Be Playing Whitney Houston In Upcoming Biopic

After displaying her acting skills in Battleship there has been a lot of speculation about the net film role that Rihanna will take on, however she claims that as of right now rumors that she’ll be starring in a biopic about Whitney Houston are still unconfirmed.

    .
“[Those are] just rumors. I never heard anything about that,” she told MTV News adding that “I got a few scripts, actually, a lot of incredible roles. Some of which I felt were a little too big for me, being that I never did a movie. So I wanted to really get my feet wet, try it, see what it was like and know how I wanted to move from there. I’m really glad ‘Battleship’ turned out to be the first one.”
    .
The rumor mill began swirling back in April when Rihanna told the U.K. Press Assocation she would give her “entire” life to play Houston. “That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do, because I would really want to pull it off,” Rihanna said. “That’s a huge, huge role, and whoever does it has to do a good job.”
    .
Regardless there will be plenty of Houston homages in the coming months as Lifetime has announced that it picked up “The Houston Family Chronicles” which will follow Houston’s family following her death and the singer will also be honored as part of VH1’s Diva series for a special that will tape in December.

I'd rather see Whitney played by a "new" face instead of someone who's already established herself. Remember Jennifer Lopez's breakout role as slain Tejano star Selena? She was a virtual unkown but she became a bigger star after taking on that role.
