After reports that Travis Barker would be unable to join his band Blink-182 on their 2013 Australian tour due to his fear of flying, it looks like the drummer will be making the trek after all.
    .

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah confirmed on Twitter that he’s managed to lure all three members of Blink 182 to Australia for Soundwave 2013. Maddah wrote, “MARK + TOM + TRAVIS. Yes, TRAVIS. #SW13 #BLINK182.” Barker has suffered from an extreme fear to flying after being in a plane crash three years back that resulted in the death of several people. Barker had previously written to Maddah on Instagram, “Mark and Tom will be there in Feb of next year but with a [fill] in drummer cause I don’t fly. Sorry brotha.” Looks like he’s changed his mind – or at least agreed to spend a really long time on a boat getting from California to Australia.
    .

Barker previously told Red Bulletin, “It’s hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can’t really get everywhere. I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”
    .

Barker has yet to comment on this news, but certainly Australian fans must be rejoicing. Blink-182 wouldn’t be the same with another drummer, anyway. Blink-182 did tweet, “I am curious are there any Australian Olympians out in the Twitter verse that are excited about #SW13?” What do you think? Is this good news? Tell us in the comments.
