Exclusive: Trey Songz Talks Being a Black Man in a Horror Film and That "All R and B Singers Cheat" Stereotype

Remember when Scarlett Johansson decided to make an album and everybody groaned? Well, the same reaction is reserved for the reverse, singers who decide to be actors — upon hearing that R&B god Trey Songz was starring in the upcoming Texas Chainsaw 3D, we rolled our eyes.

We were wrong. 3D is a sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the classic ‘70s slasher movie in which a redneck family harbors a chainsaw-wielding killing machine. In 3D, a young woman finds out she’s inherited a mansion from her long-lost (and blood-stained) relatives, but she has no idea of the horror buried in the house’s basement. Songz plays her boyfriend, and to our surprise, is one of the film’s best actors and a very candid interviewee. -
